Kwesi Nyantakyi president of the Ghana football Association has expressed his gratitude to the entire stakeholders of Ghana and African football after being elected as a member of the FIFA Executive council.
Speaking to the press at the GFA secretariat on Friday, Nyantakyi said it was an honor and a privilege to represent Africa at the highest level of football governance.
“I am very delighted for this great opportunity, although it is a huge burden of living up to a certain standard; it is also a privilege, honor and a sense of pride to be elected to represent members of the African football family.
“I believe that I would be able to live up to the expectation of stakeholders and justify the confidence you have reposed in me by electing me to this august council.
“I would like to thank the members of the executive committee of the GFA, without whose support i could not have contested the elections. They accepted to endorse my nomination as a candidate.
“I thank all our clubs representatives who have supported me; it shows the unity we have as a football family in our country. We appreciate each other and offer the needed support for each other.
“It is not an individual victory, I represent Ghana and so I would protect and advance the interest of Ghana and Africa at the international level. It is a great advantage but it doesn’t mean that my presence there would tilt decisions in favour of Ghana.
“We would be fair to all manner of people because we represent the entirety of the people of Africa and the world at large
“I thank all Ghanaians for their support and prayers during the election and I pray and hope that we all work towards the common goal of developing football in our country. I would continue to be the servant of football in Ghana, Africa and the world at large. Nyantakyi said.
