Former deputy coach of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon Ibrahim Tanko is in line to be appointed as the assistant coach for the Black Stars of Ghana, following the appointment of a new coach, media reports have suggested.
Grapevine sources in the Ghana federation have revealed that the former Black Stars and Dortmund striker will replace Maxwell Konadu as a massive shakeup hits the technical team of the West African side.
Further checks on the report have revealed that Tanko has been earmarked for the position regardless of who becomes the next Black Stars manager.
Ibrahim Tanko who Ghana’s special scout on Germany for the 2014 World Cup did a great job by providing essential information on the world champions which saw both teams providing the best game of the tournament.
Until his appointment as the deputy coach for Cameroon during the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, he was the assistant coach for Bundesliga sides SC Freiburg and FC Koln as well as Japanese side Urawa Red Devils.
Tanko, who was initially linked to the head coach job of Ghana, also worked as a scout for the Black Stars at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.
