Black Stars Coach James Kwesi Appiah says there is has never been any frosty relationship between him and Abedi Pele.
The two players endured a torrid time off and on the pitch during their days in the Senior National team over captaincy issues.
It would be recalled that handlers of the Black Stars took the armband from Kwesi Appiah and handed it to Abedi Pele during the 1992 Cup of Nations in Senegal because of Abedi’s ability to speak French.
This, many believe developed into a feud between the duo. But Coach Appiah insists there is no rift between him and the Ayew family.
“We have always been good friend’s which dates back to our time with the Senior National team”
“So we have always been good friends and the kids call me Daddy because I have known them since birth and I have no problems with him” Appiah told Sportsworldghana.com. in an exclusive interview.
“Even people had issues when he was given the captaincy in 1992 and it wasn’t Abedi who took the decision even though every player wants to be the head one day”
“It was the management at that time who took that decision on the grounds that I could not speak French because at that time he[Abedi] was playing in France and he could speak French very well”
“I have never had problems with him” he added.
