Ghana goal hero Jordan Ayew says he could not control his emotions after scoring the team’s opening goal against DR Congo in the quarterfinal clash on Sunday.
The Aston Villa forward gave the Black Stars a stepping stone after netting the opener in Ghana’s 2-1 win over their counterparts at the Stade de Oyem.
Ayew took on his markers after receiving a through pass from Mubarak Wakaso before planting the ball into the net.
Brother Andre Ayew scored the winner from the penalty spot after Mpoku had equalized for DR Congo.
Jordan Ayew, who had received massive bashings from the public since the start of the competition was tangled by tears after netting the opening goal for Ghana.
“It is an important win for the players, the Coach, the FA and most importantly the people of Ghana, “he said in a post-match conference.
“I was very happy to score and I felt emotional after scoring.”
The 24-year-old will be expected to find the back of net when the Black Stars take on Cameroon on Thursday.
