Renowned actor John Dumelo has refuted reports that he has been campaigning in senior high schools (SHS) for the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
According to him, he goes to the schools to preach peace and talk about his foundation.
There were reports that the Ghana Education Service (GES) warned John Dumelo about using SHS as a platform of any form for partisan campaign activities.
The GES was reported to have said that it has not given any actor the permission to campaign in schools and has, therefore, told him to desist from the practice.
Recently, John was in the Brong-Ahafo Region where he visited some selected schools, including Mim Senior High School, as well as other SHS in surrounding communities.
It is alleged that he campaigned for the NDC in these schools.
Reacting to reports in an interview with Hitz @1, the award-winning actor explained that, “as a matter of fact when I go to secondary school I just talk about peace and talk about my foundation. I give them school materials and stuff.’’
Public Relations Officer of Ghana Education Service (GES), John Bettey speaking on the issue told Hitz@1 that, the GES was notified that John was going to some SHS with a political purpose but the actor hasn’t brought any official letter to allow him to go to those schools for such a program.
The PRO added that ‘‘We are not encouraging any politician to go to our school with that politics idea.”
