Veteran coach JE Sarpong has angrily reacted to claims he subtly tagged Ghana FA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi as ‘Judas Iscariot’.
The former Kotoko and Hearts of Oak gaffer has distanced himself from the reports being attributed to him.
Opinions are sharply over the choice of Avram Grant’s successor with a campaign to have a local man installed gaining momentum.
Sarpong was earlier reported to have impugn on Kumasi-based Angel FM that the federation president Kwesi Nyantakyi will never give the job to a local man.
He has flatly denied the reports as a misrepresentation.
“I have never said anywhere that Kwesi Nyantakyi is Judas Iscariot. Absolutely not,” he angrily told GHANAsoccernet.com
“I gave my opinion on the choice of the new Black Stars coach but at no point did I infer or say anything against the FA boss in that regard.
“It’s sad that my views have been twisted in such a crude manner. Let me put on record that I have never said anything like that anywhere.
“I will not shy away from my own views but it’s not right for people to misquote and put their own spin what I said.
“I am not happy about this and it must be corrected. What is not right is not right.”
Further checks from GHANAsoccernet.com attributed to the experienced trainer from a text which emanated from Kumasi-based Angel FM has turned out to be inaccurate.
The Ghana FA has insisted it will not buckle under the weight of expectation to name a substantive coach.
A six-man committee has been set-up to find Grant’s successor amid exploring a two-pronged approach to select the new man.
Assistant coach Maxwell Konadu has been appointed in an interim basis but will not get the job on full time even if he applies, it has been claimed.
Grant left the job after he failed to lead the four-time African champions to win the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.
The West African powerhouse begin the qualifiers for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in June.
