Board member of Accra Hearts of Oak, Dr. Nyaho Tamakloe has revealed that players who are to be signed for the club for next season’s campaign will be interviewed before they are allowed to put pen to paper as players of the club.
According to him, the players will not only be poached for the club but also be interviewed to ascertain their understanding of the basic technical skills in football.
The lack of quality and commitment in the current crop of Hearts of Oak players has left a huge vacuum in the club to have a chance of winning a silverware for the club anytime soon and the former chairman of the club has expressed his worry over the kind of method used to recruit players for the club.
Dr. Nyaho says that the playing body of the club needs a total overhaul to ensure that players coming in are with character and have the “will to die for the club” attitude in them so as to position the club in a better position of winning laurel from next season onwards.
“We are going to have serious interview with them, players must be interviewed to know their technical skills not only poaching them”, Dr. Nyaho told the Graphic Sports.
He reiterated that the club must eschew that notion of giving new players money but must exhibit some sense of passion and commitment to the course of the club before dolling out money to players.
Adding that, though the club is willing to give out money to newly recruited players, that does not mean money should be giving to any player but only for those who will have the panache and desire to work for Hearts of Oak and that the club is ever ready to die and support every player who dons the rainbow jersey.
“I believe that when in the past the players were ready to die for the club, the club also died for them”, he continued.
He encouraged current players to learn from players like Ishmael Addo, Emmanuel Osei Kuffour, Offei Doodo, Addo Odametey, Aggrey Fynn, Ablade Kumah, Shamo Quaye and Mohammed Polo who served and died for the club wholeheartedly.
