The Public Relations Officer of Hearts of Oak Kwame Opare Addo has revealed that his outfit have desisted from signing players in short term contracts.
Hearts of Oak squad was left light in the aftermath of last season’s Ghana Premier League as key players such as Vincent Atinga, Thomas Abbey, Kwame Kizito and Robin Gnagne all left the club after failing to renew their contracts.
Reports making round in the media suggest that, the Rainbow Club is about to miss out on the signing of enterprising striker Nasiru Zakari from Attram Di Vissier following the player’s reluctance to sign for just two years contrary to the four years the club is proposing.
And according to the Club’s scribe, they are no longer going to acquire players on short term deal, which they believed has become the bane to their quest to end their trophy drought.
“Going forward the board has decided we will not sign on players for lesser years, ie, less than three years,” he said.
“That aside the club has begun negotiations with players who have less than a year left on their contracts.”
“That is because we value these players and we believe they can help us win something in the future.”
“It will always come with money but we have learnt good lessons and we don’t want to repeat the mistakes of the past. We want to have a consistent team of players who can help us win trophies.”
Hearts will commence their 2017/18 Ghana Premier League season against Techiman Eleven Wonders.
