Accra Hearts of Oak have denied making attempts to lure the head coach of Bechem United FC, Manuel Zacharias, to their side.
There have been reports that the management of Hearts, as part of their plans for the next football season, are planning to lure the coach with a juicy offer to leave the 2016 MTN FA Cup champions. However, the management has denied such reports.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Class Sports’ Hussein Hassan on Wednesday, September 7, the Public Relations Officer of Hearts of Oak, Kwame Opare Addo, said: “We have not officially contacted Bechem United [regarding the coach joining Hearts of Oak]. I say officially because any fan can go and approach the coach that [he] will be a good coach for Hearts [but] officially coming from management or coming from the board, no. Hearts of Oak have not done that.”
“We are hoping that we will end the season very well with the last three games, then whatever the decision we will want to take for the team going into the next season, the pre-season and the long term, management will sit down and take prudent decisions.”
Meanwhile, the president of Bechem United, Kingsley Owusu Achiaw, popularly known as Agama, has revealed that they would gladly accept to release the coach to Accra Hearts of Oak if they are able to meet their demands.
He told Hussein Hassan in a separate interview: “We have a contract with him (coach) that [even] if Accra Hearts of Oak is interested in him [he will decide] but we would [like to] hold on to him. Some of these European coaches, if they come and live in small villages like Bechem, it’s because of a problem; they are not used to that. If Accra Hearts of Oak is prepared to pay whatever is required in terms of negotiation, we are prepared [to let him go].”
