Ghana captain Asamoah has written his name in the history books of Africa after scoring his 50th international goal.
The 31-year-old netted his 50th goal for the National team after scoring in Ghana’s 5-0 mauling over Ethiopia in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Sunday.
Gyan joined the likes of former Zambian international Godfrey Chitalu, Egypt’s Hossan Hassan, Ivorian great Didier Drogba and Cameroonian and four-time Africa footballer of the year Samuel Eto’o as the only African players to score 50 or more goals for their nation.
The Ghanaian international had been chasing his 50th goal for the Black Stars since scoring his last at the 2017 Cup of Nations Group game against Mali.
The former Sunderland attacker was able to reach the enviable feat by scoring in Sunday’s game at the Babayara Sports Stadium.
The attacker who is currently Ghana’s all-time top scorer will be hoping to get more goals for the National team before going on retirement.
