In Daniel Omaboe, the cry of most Ghanaians has been answered in terms of who could be our next firebrand striker, as Ghanaians are known to have been blessed with great flowering football talents.
In our quest to unearth this talents, who are barely known or spoken about but have the desire to prove – once given the national team platform, took us to the home grounds of Sungaipadee FC [a second division side] at the Maharaj Stadium in Narathiwat, Thailand in Southeast Asia.
Daniel Omaboe, who has been likened to retired French footballer Zinedine Zidane due to his ability to display skills with an array of moves such as his step overs and close ball control which makes him a phenomenon, prompted many to affectionately refer to him as Abotsi Zidane.
Omaboe is a 23-year-old talented, focused and skillful player with great potentials and a measureless ability to score good and breathtaking goals. This is one stalwart that is destined for exceptional things in football. The stalwart has a mind-blowing understanding of the game which is beyond human reasoning. He has got a dexterous touch with his natural left foot that usually leaves defenders in high alert.
A natural left footer in the mould of a Zidane. He is a stunning scorer of tailored measured goals. He is quick, fantastic dribbler and has a eye for goal. He moves with pace and has an unbelievable cat-liked vision with the ability to thread a well taken pass through the tip of a pinhole. Despite his attacking abilities, he is also a prodigious hard worker, physically strong with good header skill, always in a position to take on his opponents and can easily put in a tackle when needed. Apart from his favorite center forward, he is able to play both left wing and right wing roles competently.
Ever since his colts days, he has possessed high footballing abilities. Hence he has always been showing his goal scoring prowess and has also been making defenders stranded on the pitch as he is always running at them with the ball.
In Thailand he won the goalking with Bangna FC and has won the Kings Cup with Sumuprahkan FC. He is currently the leading goal scorer in his current team, Sungaipaidee FC (3 goals in 5 games)
Ghana Sports caught up with the pugnacious goal sniffer exclusively from the Maharaj Stadium.
GS: Good Afternoon Daniel Omaboe.
DO: Good Afternoon.
GS: This is Ghana Sports, you are welcome.
DO: Thank you.
GS: So Dan how is life in Thailand?
DO: Life is good here, and am enjoying every bit of it (smiles).
GS: Where did you start your football?
DO: Magic Stars (colts) and Saltpond Jenaak FC (second division) all in Ghana.
GS: How did your journey to Thailand started?
DO: A friend who is also a footballer here (Thailand) recommended me to a team and i was invited to come over. GS: How many? And what Thai teams have you played so far?
DO: 3 teams, Bangna FC (division 3), Sumuprahkan FC (division 2) and my current team – Sungaipaidee FC.
GS: How do you see your future? And what are you looking forward to achieve in your football career?
DO: (broad smiles) Aiming for the top and play the big clubs in europe.
GS: Thanks for your time, Dan, and wish you all the best in your promising football career.
