Top English team, Manchester United has moved in for highly rated Dutch-born Ghanaian Timothy Fosu-Mensah from Eredivisie side Ajax.
The 16-year-old defender was spotted at the United’s Carrington training ground Thursday ahead of a possible move which will cost The Red Devils an initial £300,000 in compensation to Ajax.
United’s scouts were hugely impressed by Fosu-Mensah’s performances during the AEGON Future Cup tournament in April where Ajax emerged as victorious and working under Van Gaal is a big lure for the player.
The versatile youngster who is yet to be cap-tied at the senior national level can play in a range of defensive positions – left back, centre back or even as a left wing. He was recently on the radar of Manchester City and Italian giants Inter Milan.
He will become the third left-back to move to the club after Luke Shaw and Marcus Rojo this summer if the deal goes through.
