Two second half goals gave Ghana a comfortable win over Mauritius in Port Louis on Sunday to seal a place at next year’s Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.
Deputy Captain Andre Ayew and Christian Atsu finished off from inside the box in four minutes to open a seven-point lead in Group H with one match remaining.
The Black Stars started well with some intricate passing but failed to break the deadlock until the 71st minute.
Ayew fired in the opening goal from inside the box on 71 minutes after a nice cross from Chelsea left-back Baba Rahman.
The Chelsea star weaved his magic again surging forward and hit the baseline before picking out Atsu inside the box for the on-loan Malaga player to finish with aplomb for the second.
Atsu could have made it three but the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations MVP agonizingly missed the target as his connection from the left swept across the face of goal on 83 minutes.
Ghana toyed with hosts to end the match as Group leaders on 13 points with one match to spare.
The Black Stars will finish their campaign with a home game against Rwanda on 4 September.
