Ghana’s ambassador to Congo Brazzaville H. E Atta Boafo has implored Asante Kotoko to overcome fears of intimidation to beat CARA Club in the second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup next Wednesday.
Asante Kotoko commenced their CAF Confederation Cup campaign on a winning ground after beating Congolese side CARA Club 1-0 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium last Sunday.
A match in which Porcupine Warriors failed to take advantage of the four penalties awarded to them by Senegalese referee Issah Sy, only hitting the back of the net with very last one that won them the game.
Amidst fears that officiating may work in favour of CARA in this return leg, H. E Atta Boafo has urged the porcupine warriors to forget about maltreatment or unfavorable atmosphere that may greet them in Congo and focus on beating CARA to qualify.
“Football is played with rules, if CARA were cheated in Kumasi they would have protested, they (Kotoko) should throw away those fears and aim at beating CARA, or at least picking a draw”, H. E. Atta Boafo said speaking to FOX 97.9 FM.
He added, “What makes me happy is that Kotoko outplayed them in Kumasi just that the goals did not flow, but over here (in Congo) I know that we would mesmerize them no matter what the situation is.”
Kotoko will leave the shores of Ghana for Congo Brazzaville on Monday to seek for qualification against CARA on Wednesday.
