Black Stars Management Committee Vice Chairman, Wilfred Osei Kweku Palmer believes Avram Grant’s successor will face a tough task qualifying the nation to its fourth consecutive FIFA World Cup.
The Israeli tactician vacated his position as the head of the Black Stars following the expiration of his contract last month after guiding the team to a fourth-place finish in the just ended Africa Nations Cup in Gabon.
The former Chelsea coach collected just one point from two World Cup qualifying matches against the Cranes of Uganda and the Pharaohs of Egypt, which has left the team’s hope of making it to a fourth successive World Cups in peril.
Per the performance of the departed coach, Osei Plamer reckons that, the next coach of the team will find it difficult to turn things around in the subsequent matches.
“I can tell you, the job of the next Black Stars coach will be very very challenging because of the situation Avram Grant has put us through”, He told Atinka FM
“He (Grant) has jeopardized our World Cup chances and will be difficult for any coach who takes over the Black Stars to be able to navigate his way through”.
The Ghana FA has in the meantime appointed Maxwell Konadu as caretaker coach of the Black Stars, and he will lead the team for next month’s FIFA free date for international friendlies if the Ghana FA finds an opponent.
Ghana is hoping to appoint a new substantive coach before the World Cup qualifying game against Congo Brazzaville in June 2017,
