Some Ghanaians have expressed utmost dismay over the failure of Black Stars to qualify for the finals of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The Stars who were chasing an elusive fifth trophy lost to a rejuvenated Cameroonian side by two goals to nil in a semifinal encounter at Stade de Franceville.
Prior to the game, most Ghanaians expressed optimism the Stars will shine not only to book a ticket to the finals but also to avenge their painful defeat almost a decade ago when the sides met at the same stage of the competition.
However, a defensive blunder by defender John Boye and keeper Razak Brimah gifted the Cameroonians the first goal in the 72nd minute before late counter-attacking goal by winger Christian Basogog.
To some Ghanaians, the lost has deeply affected them taking into cognisance the fact that history has repeated itself.
The Stars will now battle it out for the third place spot against Aristide Bance’s Burkina Faso on Saturday.
Here are some reactions from a section of the populace.
