Former Ghana Football Association President Alhaji Lepowura Mohamed Nurudeen Dauda (M. N.D) Jawula has stated that the country stop wasting money if they appoint a local coach who is equally qualified manage the Black Stars just like foreign coaches.
In an exclusive interview with Ghanaweb, Alhaji Jawula said Ghanaian coaches are equally qualified to manage the Senior National team just like the foreign coaches. He also emphasized that the current six member Black Stars committee should save the country from wasting lot’s of money on expatriate coaches and appoint an indigenous coach instead.
“It is becoming obvious that we are spending too much money on foreign coaches and it is obvious that we have a few Ghanaians now who can stand in perfectly.”
“We have Marcel Desailly, Ibrahim Tanko, Kwesi Appiah, Osei Kuffour and Sellas ‘Bobo’ Tetteh, all these given a chance can do something that any white man can do and I think it will be a waste of resources if we bring a foreign coach who will take so much money.”
Kwesi Appiah was the last indigenous coach to manage the Black Stars and after two years he qualified the Stars to the World Cup in Brazil, making him the first black African coach to take the country to the World Cup.
