Players of the Black Stars bought up to four thousand tickets for fans who attended the World Cup qualifier against Uganda on Friday; it has emerged.
Even though it was a home qualifier, Ghana’s Ministry of Sport had set prohibitive prices for the game, leading to about four players to buy the tickets.
Mubarak Wakaso bought 500 tickets while Germany-based left-back Baba Rahman and Lorient forward Majeed Waris bought 500 tickets each.
Andre and Jordan Ayew were said to have bought 1 000 as other players chipped in unconfirmed amounts. Ghana played in Tamale for only the third time since previous encounters with Guinea and Togo in the 2015 Afcon qualifiers were honoured there.
Ghana opened the final stage of their 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign on a worrying note after they were held to a goalless draw by their East African guests.
