The chairman of the Ghana FA sponsorship and marketing committee, Frank Nelson, has denied reports that the FA has been contacted by brokerage agency Sports Cul Ghana Limited over a $44 million sponsorship deal for the Ghana Premier League.
According to the report in the local media, a Turkish company will be sponsoring the domestic top flight for the next three years.
The 2015/16 Ghana Premier League was played without a sponsor after Capital Bank withdrew its sponsorship in November 2015.
Frank Nelson claims no Turkish firm has expressed interest in sponsoring the GPL.
“I don’t have an idea about my committee dealing with the issue of this Turkish firm or $44m sponsorship. I think it’s neither here nor there.
“I am very sure the general secretary of the GFA, if there is anything of that will definitely contact our committee. Having said that, it does not mean the committee is not working, we are working tirelessly to get a sponsor for the league”
