The president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Kwesi Nyantakyi has dismissed claims that the nation’s football is in limbo.
Kwesi Nyantakyi has been faced with criticism since taking office in 2005 for not helping the development of football in the country.
The opprobrium has been further worsened over the last couple of weeks following the delay in the start of the 2017/18 Ghana Premier League.
However, the CAF 1st vice, accepted that they are encountering difficulties but will certainly overcome them.
“I don’t agree that Ghana football is in limbo,” Nyantakyi stated on Vision 1 FM.
“If you say Ghana football is sinking, let define indices for measurement and let determine at this point it was at this level but as it stands, people can only say Ghana football is sinking but the question is, what shows that it is sinking?
“When we start that debate, I will agree with you at a point and at some point, I will not agree with you.”
After Great Olympics placed an injunction on the commencement 2017/18 Ghana Premier League season, Mr Nyantakyi says they will overcome such setback.
“What we are currently facing now is a temporal set back but we will overcome all these setbacks and bounce back.”
“When anything like this happens, it doesn’t mean we are in crisis because people sometimes say things that do not tally to what we are going through because I have been at the FA for a while now and once in a while we confront such problems but we always overcome it.”
“World Cup is always played once every four years so if Ghana fails to qualify does that mean we are in crisis? Two years ago King Faisal dragged the FA to court and we overcame that but the truth is, the Ghana Football Association has done nothing wrong and if Olympics is in court with the FA it doesn’t mean we have done something wrong.”
“For the past eight years, the FA has not lost any case in court so let keep our fingers crossed and see what will happen after the final decision of the court,” he added.
