Former Board Member of Asante Kotoko, Kweku Amponsah indicated that the GHALCA G6 tournament has exposed the team’s weakness.
The club started the off-season competition on a bright note following convincing wins over Bechem United and Wa All Stars before they succumbed to penalty shoot-out defeat to sworn rivals Hearts of Oak in the semifinals.
Kweku Amponsah believes the performances the team exhibited in the tournament indicates that they need to beef up the squad before next season commences.
“I think the club have to add one or two players before next season. We started the competition with a fine display but in the second game, even though we won, we didn’t play well enough. I think the tournament has helped us realized our weaknesses and we quickly have to work on that,” Amponsah said Asempa FM.
“We need players to fill up some certain departments of the team, we need tried and tested players to boost the team next season. I believe a top striker should be our priority now and maybe one top defender.”
Kotoko defeated Bechem United 5-4 to finish third in the tournament.
