The Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Ibrahim Sannie Daara, has expressed delight with attendance to the various match venues in Week 1 of the Ghana Premier League.
The 2016/17 campaign kicked off on Sunday, February 12, after several weeks of uncertainty.
Speaking in an interview with Class Sports, Mr Daara said: “If you heard reports of the attendances at the various league centres, it’s great and wonderful. We at the association are very happy about the situation and want to see more people troop to the various games. We, therefore, urge the various clubs to do more in terms of promoting their games.
“If someone tells you the Ghana Premier league is dead, the person must be kidding,” he told Class FM Sports.
The Marketing Manager of StarTimes Ghana – official right owners of this season’s competition – Akorfa Gyanqui, also expressed her delight with the turnout by supporters at the league centres.
“I think so far it’s good the things we are looking out for we are seeing and we are very much excited about it. I was at the Kotoko match and it was good, even though we could have done more. But we are sure that when we roll out our full programme, there will be an improvement,” she said.
