Ghanaian-born and former German international Gerald Asamoah has been appointed head Coach for Schalke O4’s U23 side.
The 38-year-old was confirmed as the new head Coach for the U23 team on Wednesday after a meeting with officials of the Royal blues.
Asamoah who is regarded as one of the legends at Schalke 04 having spent most of his playing career at the Club has been rewarded with a role in the Club for his dedication to the Bundesliga outfit.
The Mampong-born spent more than a decade with the former German Champions.
“I am therefore happy to be able to work with my club in the sporting field and to take a new course with the U23 in which I ended my career.”
He also featured for the German National team at the 2002 and 2006 FIFA World Cups.
He holds a license A Coaching certificate acquired at the University of St. Gallen.
