Vice President of the Ghana Football Association George Afriyie says no decision has been taken on the future of out-of-favour Black Stars coach Avram Grant insisting ‘nothing has changed’.
Reports in the local media had suggested that the FA Boss Kwesi Nyantakyi had hinted Grant will see though his contract until the 2017 Afcon but George Afriyie who is the management committee chairman of the Black Stars insists no decision has been taken yet.
“As management, we are looking at whether or not to stick with Avram Grant for the AFCON tournament,” George Afriyie said.
“And if we are to sack him too, what other options do we have? These are all permutations that we are looking at. But I have to be very honest with you that as we speak nothing has changed. We have not arrived at any conclusions as to whether to sack Avram [Grant] or retain him. So for now, if you ask me, he is still the coach of the Black Stars. He has a contract which runs until immediately after the AFCON [in Gabon],” he told Pulsegh.
“From our side, it’s completely a performance based contract [we have with Grant] and so as to whether we would want to renew the contract or sack him will be dependent on our assessment of him after his period of work,” he added.
