Former Ghana U-20 forward Samuel Afful has joined Iraqi side Al Talaba after rescinding his contract with Tanzanian outfit Azam last year.
The former Sekondi Haasacas striker joins the Asia side on a six months contract despite reports of him joining newly promoted side Karela United.
Reports in local media linked the former Hasaacas forward with Karela United and Accra Hearts of Oak after he ended his stay with Azam FC, however, the 24 year old opted to continue his career abroad.
Samuel Afful was part of the Black Stars B team that won the West Africa Football Union Championship in 2013, and was in the Ghana U-20 team that played in the World Cup in New Zealand that same year.
Afful partnered Eric Bekoe in their final season in the domestic league, where they both finished on 8 goals but could not help Hasaacas escape relegation.
