Ghana forward Abdul Majeed Waris was left disappointed after his club FC Porto were eliminated from the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, but has turned his attention to helping the club achieve their Portuguese league and Cup ambitions.
Waris enjoyed 68 minutes for FC Porto as they were booted out from this season’s UEFA Champions League after playing a goalless draw with English giants Liverpool on Tuesday- having lost the first leg 5-0 at the Estadio do Dragao a forthnight ago.
The Dragons hold a five point lead over city rival SL Benfica after 25 games with 67 points in the Portuguese Liga NOS and are on the verge of sealing Portuguese Cup final berth following their 1-0 win over Sporting Lisbon in the first leg of the semi-final last Friday.
The former Spartak Moscow hitman took to twitter after the stalemate with Liverpool to thank their travelling supporters and urged his team-mates to finish the season strongly.
“Happy to have get a start after a long time and thanks to the fans for their fantastic support. Time to focus on the league and cup now.varmosss Portooooo ????”
