Leicester City right-back Danny Simpson is impressed by Daniel Amartey’s performance in their 2-1 triumph over Swansea City on August 27.
The Ghanaian started his second English topflight match, filling the central midfield spot left by N’golo Kante, as the Foxes picked their first win of the season.
Amartey, who plays as a defender with the Black Stars, joined Leicester last January from Danish outfit Copenhagen.
“He was excellent last week,” Simpson told the Leicester Mercurial.
“That is the thing with our squad. He has been patient. Every day he gives 100 per cent in training.
“He is a good lad to have around. He is always smiling and always joking with everyone.
“He has always said he wants to play centre midfield and was deservedly the man-of-the-match.
“He was fantastic and he has given us all a lift. If he performs like that every week, then yes [he can follow in the footsteps of Kante].”
The 21-year-old lasted the entire duration of the game.
He made five league appearances as Leicester won the topflight last season.
