The MTN FA Cup trophy arrived in Bechem on Sunday after making a brief stop in Nkawkaw on a tour yesterday.
The FA Cup Committee outlined a week-long programme ahead of next Sunday’s grand finale which includes a trophy tour to the towns where these year’s finalists (Bechem United and Okwahu United) are coming from.
The trophy tour started in the Eastern Region on Saturday, 27 August with a visit to the palaces of some chiefs in the Kwahu Traditional area, where the trophy was received and displayed for public viewing.
On Sunday, the FA Cup Committee delegation led by Vice Chairman Kofi Poku took the trophy to Bechem in the Brong Ahafo Region where it was showcased to the chiefs and people
The trophy will be displayed at the MTN head office in Accra for a photo session before it’s transported by sea from Accra to Mankessim the following day to be paraded through the principal streets of Mankessim and Elmina.
The trophy will then arrive in Cape Coast where it will be showcased at a Durbar as part of activities for the Oguaa Fetu Afahye which will be held next week.
Bechem United and Okwawu United will have separate training sessions at the Cape Coast Stadium on September 2.
The MTN FA Cup final will be preceded by a curtain-raiser between table toppers from the Northern and Southern Zone, Ampem Darkoa and Hasaacas Ladies to decide the winner of the National Women’s League.
