Former Black Stars defender, Emmanuel Armah “Senegal”, has started the campaign to get suspended Black Stars player, Sulley Ali Muntari, back into the national team.
Muntari was indefinitely suspended from the Black Stars for the “unprovoked physical attack” on Black Stars Management Committee member, Moses Armah ‘Parker’, at a meeting over their unpaid bonuses, during the global football gathering in Brazil in 2014.
Armah made this statement ahead of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon, after Ghana were handed a very tough draw against the likes of Egypt, Uganda and Mali.
He said: “Ghana is in a very difficult group and, I hope a player like Muntari will be recalled into the national team to aid the country break this 34-year trophyless jinx, considering his experience in tournaments such as this.
“Two or more experienced players can also be recalled because it helps boost the confidence of these young ones,” he told Accra-based radio station, Peace Fm.
The midfielder was last seen in action at the Vodafone Unity Match which was held in Accra, where he exchanged pleasantries with current Ghana coach, Avram Grant, after the charity match.
