Aduana Stars were held to a 1-1 draw by Berekum Chelsea in week 10 of the Ghana Premier League at the Nana Agyemang Badu II Park on Friday.
The defending league champions went into the game with the hope of returning to ways following their 2-0 defeat against Dreams FC at the Dawu Park last Monday.
Coach Yusif Abubakar’s side indeed commenced the game brightly as threatened the goal area of the visitors but failed to capitalize on their terrific start.
The CAF Confederation Cup campaigners came from recess more determined but Chelsea did not give them any breathing space by holding their own against their opponents incessant attacks.
Midway through the game, the visitors had their moments to break the deadlock but just like the hosts, they fluffed their lines at the final third of the pitch.
With Chelsea on the ascendancy, in-form forward Stephen Amankona struck a dagger through the teeming supporters of the Aduana after taking full advantage of a defensive mishap to power home the opener for his side on the 67th minute.
And as the Blues looked to be heading back to Berekum with the three points, Captain Emmanuel Akuorko pulled parity for Aduana in the 82nd minute.
Aduana pushed for a winner in the dying embers but Chelsea held on as the game ended in a 1-1 stalemate.
