Elmina Sharks were held to a goalless draw by Medeama SC in Week 8 of the Ghana Premier League at the Ndoum Stadium on Wednesday.
The “Botweaku Mba” went into the game with bags full of confidence following their 2-1 victory over Hearts of Oak in Week 7 at the Cape Coast Sports last Sunday.
Coach Yaw Acheampong’s men were determined to claim the maximum points but Medeama SC, who are joint leaders of the league, had other ideas as they came into the match with a clear plan of thwarting the hosts threat.
Sharks started the match brightly by attacking their opponents and created half chances but failed to make it count as the first half ended in a stalemate.
Midway through the second half, Medeama showed glimpses of their form this season and went close to opening the scoring on two occasions but goalkeeper Richard Attah stood firm to the test.
Elmina Sharks tried to take maximum points from the match in the dying embers but their incessant pressure was curtailed by the visitors as the game finished in scoreless a draw.
By virtue of the draw, Elmina Sharks maintain their 4th position with 12 points but with a game in hand while Medeama drop to 3rd with 14 points, same as 2nd place side Karela FC but with an inferior goal difference.
