Arsenal youngster Edward Nketiah struck thrice as England’s U-18s cruised to a 4-0 victory over Qatar to wrap up a three-game trip to the Middle Eastern country.
The 17-year-old, sporting the number 11 shirt, scored in the 14th, 53rd and 63rd minutes as teammate George Tanner added a late strike to seal the victory for the Young Lions.
Coach Neil Dewsnip’s men thus achieved a 100% record during their tour of Qatar, having beaten Saudi Arabia and the Qataris twice.
Nketiah, who turns 18 in May, has been hailed as one of the brightest goal scoring prospects in England. He scored 24 goals for Arsenal’s U-18s in the 2015/16 U-18 League to emerge top scorer.
The youngster, born to Ghanaian parents, says he models his style of striking after Luis Suarez of Barcelona and Sergio Aguero of Manchester City, but his poacher’s instincts have already been compared to that of Arsenal legend Thierry Henry and Sunderland’s Jermain Defoe.
He was previously on the books of Chelsea but was let go at U-14 level due to his lack of height and physical bulkiness.
