Despite a convincing victory to kick start the 2016/2017 Ghana Premier League season,Ebusua Dwarfs head coach Ricardo Da Rocha has already described the league as combative.
The Brazilian manager who has been in charge of the Cape Coast based side for three months managed to steer Dwarfs to a 3-1 win over newly promoted side Bolga All Stars.
Playing at home,Joseph Esso struck in the 11th minute to give Dwarfs their first goal of the season which also happened to be the first goal of the new league campaign.
A missed penalty in the second half by Mohammed Osman fueled the confidence of Bolga All Stars as they managed to get an equalizer shortly after to also register their first ever goal in the top flight scored by Issahaku Wahid.
Mohammed Osman was not to be denied on the day as he responded to his penalty miss by restoring the lead for his side in the 60th minute while Albert Hammond made sure of the victory with an 89th minute goal.
Speaking through an interpreter at the post match conference he remarked that the little he had seen of the league gave an indication of how tough opponents were going to be through out the season.
“The Ghana Premier League is very tough and competitive.
“I have been impressed with the quality of players on the local scene as well.”
“We will have to take the seriousness that led us to this win into every other match that we contest in this season,”he explained.
A spot on top of the league log is the reward for Dwarfs following their spirited display on match-day one.
