Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has congratulated the Black Stars of Ghana for their sixth successive appearance at the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations, following their 2-1 win over DR Congo on Sunday, but has warned that facing Cameroon would not be easy.
The Stars, courtesy a goal each from the Ayews in the second half, beat DR Congo in the quarterfinal stage of the ongoing Nations Cup in Gabon and will next face Cameroon in the semi-finals on Thursday 2 February.
Cameroon beat Ghana at the same stage of the 2008 edition of the AFCON hosted by the latter. According to Dr Bawumia, the match will not be easy but was confident that “with the continuous support and prayers of all Ghanaians, the Black Stars will make it”.
He urged the team to remain focused in a series of tweets on Sunday night.
“Congratulations to the Black Stars for defeating the DRC to book a semifinal place at the Afcon. Next up is Cameroon, which won’t be an easy task. But with the continuous support and prayers of all Ghanaians, the Black Stars will make it. To the team, please stay focused. You can do it,” his tweets read.
