Assistant coach of the Black Stars Maxwell Konadu has described Cameroon as a very difficult side that has survived the best teams in the competition, hence the need to step up their game on Thursday if they are to overcome them.
“The Cameroonians are a bunch of talented players who have survived very difficult teams in the competition and therefore my team will need to put in extra effort to overcome them.
“If you analyse their group very well you will understand their strength, they came out of a very difficult group and succeeded in eliminating host nation Gabon from the competition.
“They were also responsible for the elimination of Senegal, the hot favourites for the competition, so it is not a side that can be underrated. “We must work hard if we are to defeat them and progress to the finals of the competition, ” he said.
According to the coach, the playing body has had several meetings in connection with the match and the ultimate aim was to devise the best strategies that will grant them victory.
He said the meetings were held without the knowledge of the technical and management team adding that they were impressed with the efforts of the players to ensure victory for Ghana.
“This shows that the players are determined and want to go beyond the semi -finals and ultimately bring home the trophy” Coach Konadu noted.
Ghana will be seeking to avenge the lone goal defeat suffered at the hands of Cameroon in the semi -finals of the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations hosted in Ghana.
The 2017 African Cup of Nations is the sixth time Ghana is making it into the last four of the competition.
A victory over Cameroon will also make it the third time since 2010 the team is making a representation at the finals of the competition.
