Cameroon U17 coach Bertin Ebwelle insists Ghana deserve their win over his side following their impressive showing on Sunday.
The Black Starlets thumped the Cameroonians 4-0 in their group opener at the Port Gentil Stadium.
A brace each from Eric Ayiah and Ibrahim Sulley completed the rout for Ghana who were back in the tournament after missing the last two editions.
Cameroon knocked out Ghana two years ago on technical grounds with the Starlets found guilty of fielding an overaged player but this time, Ghana won fair and square and their coach has nothing but praise for Ghana.
“Congratulations to the Ghana’s coach Samuel for a good job well done but we can still fight our way in this group,” he said after the game.
“It was the first real test for the boys and they became so frustrated when we couldn’t score despite controlling the game in the early minutes.”
“The boys didn’t mix-up the tactics and I just believe that they were just in experienced but losing this match is not the end of the competition for us. These boys still have much to learn and we would cope well.”
Cameroon will play Guinea in their next fixture against on Wednesday.
