Top Ghanaian referee Joseph Lamptey have been left out of the list of referees appointed by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to officiate at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations slated for Gabon.
Lamptey was tipped to represent Ghana at the continental tournament for his exposure and achievement as a top referee but was unfortunately left out of the final seventeen centre men assigned to officiate at the tournament.
CAF, on November 21, handed the Ghanaian referee Joseph Lamptey a three months ban after he awarded a controversial penalty to South Africa in their 2-1 win over Senegal in a 2018 World Cup qualifier.
This came after Senegal lodged a protest with CAF over the performance of the referee at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.
