The Executive Council of CAF has handed Gabon the right to host this year’s U17 African Cup of Nations from after withdrawing hosting rights from Madagascar.
Madagascar was stripped of the right to host the 2017 edition of the CAF under 17 AFCON last month after the continent’s football governing body, decided that following the reports by CAF inspection teams which received a unanimous backing by the executive committee in a meeting held in Libreville.
The statement reads “Following the reports of the CAF inspection team, the CAF executive committee unanimously decided (with the exception of the President of Malagasy Football Federation) to withdraw the hosting right of the Total U-17 Africa Cup of Nations 2017 from Madagascar”.
” The CAF Secretariat will launch a new bid for applicants within a limited period (until 30th January 2017 for the selection of a new host “
The development comes just a few days to the end of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations which is being hosted by Gabon.
The competition will kick off on April 3 and ends on April 16, 2017.
