AshGold head coach, C. K. Akunnor, says he is ready to help Kwesi Appiah in the Black Stars team if he is given the opportunity. Appiah was named Black Stars coach in March as Avram Grant’s replacement on a 2-year deal.
The Ghana Football Association has stated that Appiah will have two assistants but nothing official has been said concerning the identities of these people.
Akunnor, who is a former Black Stars captain, says that if the national team reaches out to him, he will be willing to help.
“I am a Ghananian and I have served this country in so many ways. The call must come from the GFA or Kwesi Appiah. If that happens and Kwesi Appiah is very sure of me, I will do the work.”
After a playing career which took him through clubs such as Okwahu United, AshGold (Goldfields as the team was called known in his time), and Wolfsburg in Germany, Akunnor did his coaching badges and has handled Eleven Wise,
Hearts of Oak and Dreams FC so far in his coaching career.
