Ghana’s sensational cruiser weight boxing champion, Briamah Kamoko, alias Bukom Banku is to stage a come-back bout in the month of June, 2017.
The undefeated cruiser weight champion, Bukom Banku was last seen in the ring on 27th December 2015 in Kumasi when he stopped his long-time pal, Michael Ayittey Powers, in their ‘repeat or revenge’ bout at the Baba Yara Stadium in the 6th rounds.
Bukom Banku quit boxing to focus on politics in the run-up to the 2016 elections. Bukom Banku, after abandoning his boxing career, campaigned for the NDC and its leader, former President Mahama in the 2016 elections.
Boxing promoter, Michael Nii Yaboi Annan, told Onua FM’s Ghana Dadwene that “I know very soon, you will hear something about Bukom Banku. There is a fight which is coming up and when things are done Bukom Banku will return to the ring again soon”.
“The opponent is also strong and it is brewing in the community (Bukom) but these are some of the things. We keep these things in the community, we don’t project it”, Nii Annan added.
He further stated “the venue of the bout will be at Bukom Boxing Arena in June if all things being equal and the opponent is also in the community who is aspiring to be like Floyd Joy Mayweather Jr.”.
Bukom Banku’s opponent is likely to be a boxer by name “Bastee”. “We know him [Bastee] to be strong. Everyone believes he is the one to beat Bukom Bankum so we are all waiting”.
