Bologna midfielder Godfred Donsah has been among the seven best young footballers in Italy.
The list compiled by portal www.italianfootballdaily.com includes three other African promising stars Amadou Diawara (Napoli, Guinea), Keita Balde (SS Lazio, Senegal) and Franck Kessie (Atalanta, Ivory Coast).
Others in the list are Juventus wonderkid Paulo Dyballa, AC Milan young goalkeeper Gianluiggi Dannoruma and Alberto Grassi (Napoli).
Donsah’s citation was: ”Any Ghanaian midfielder playing in the central positions is likely to be compared with Michael Essien, one of the greatest Ghanaian midfielders of his generation.
”However, there is something truly special about Godfred Donsah, who managed to catch the attention of Juventus and Chelsea before making the move to Bologna.
” After coming through the ranks at Palermo, he was signed for around €5 million from Cagliari in the summer of 2016.
”He may have featured only in 9 league games for Bologna this season, but he is just 20 years old and has plenty of time to establish himself as a first-team regular.”
In actual fact Donsah played for Hellas Verona in the Serie A before moving to Cagliari.
He featured for Ghana at the 2015 FIFA U20 World Cup in New Zealand.
