Former Ghana international Augustine Arhinful says the head coach of the Black Stars Avram Grant should be held responsible for the team’s defeat against Egypt in yesterday’s World Cup qualifiers in Alexandria.
The 42-year-old former Borussia Dortmund forward thinks the Israeli import trainer should solely be single out for the poor performance of the Black Stars team following their five games winless streak so far.
Many football pundits and enthusiasts are bashing the 60-year-old gaffer for his low technical knowledge in the dugout with the four-time African champions – a situation the former international player feels right on the ex-Chelsea and West Ham tactician as he deserves to get vilified by the football connoisseurs.
“He (Avram Grant) is the head coach of the team and has been in charge of the games being played by his charges. So, if he has performed poorly in those games, definitely he should be the one to be blamed and must be held responsible for such woeful results as well,” Arhinful told Kumasi-based Silver FM.
“Now that the game against Egypt has come to an end, I think he should be questioned as to what went wrong,” he added.
Ghana now faces a daunting task in their quest to make a fourth World Cup appearance after starting their qualifying series on a poor note.
