The vice president of the GFA, George Afriyie insists the Black Stars are still a force to be reckoned with despite an abysmal run of four games without a win.
The four-time African champions are at their lowest-ebb over the past ten years and began their 2018 World Cup qualifiers with a disappointing 0-0 draw with Uganda.
However, Mr Afriyie is adamant that the team still has the ability to defeat any team on the continent.
“At any tournament, Ghana is always a force to reckon with. We have been to the semi-final in the last five editions of the AFCON.” he told 3FM.
“The trophy has eluded us for too long, and we know we will get the fans behind us if we win it.”
He also weighed-in on the debate regarding the future of Black Stars coach Avram Grant who missed the AFCON draw for an appearance on Sky Sports TV.
He said, “for us, going to Gabon to monitor the draw and granting interviews was not important, the game against Egypt is more important.”
