Ghana coach Yussif Basigi says his ladies will win the 2018 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations with the necessary support.
The West Africans are set to host the competition for the first time ever, having participated in all but one championship since the tournament’s inception.
The Black Queens came third at the recent gathering in Cameroon after falling to the hosts in the semi-final.
“I have taken a cue from Cameroon’s hosting of the tournament,” Basigi told Starr FM.
“I think for Ghana, as hosts of the 2018 tournament, if we get the same support [as Cameroon had], we will definitely win it.
“I’m not surprised that they got to the finals.
“Cameroon was more prepared than us and it did show in our game against them.
“I will be scouting home-based players ahead of the tournament because player invitation won’t be automatic.”
Ghana are three-time losing finalists, having succumbed to Nigeria in 1998, 2002 and 2006.
The 2018 Afcon will serve as qualifiers for the 2019 Fifa Women’s World Cup to be hosted by France.
