Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu earned his third assist of the season as Udinese raced into a first half lead against Sassuolo on Sunday. But the hosts eventually fell to two goals in the second half to drop to 13th place on the table.
The hosts took the lead early in the seventh minute when Agyemang-Badu pounced unto a misplaced clearance by goalkeeper Andrea Consigli and found Seko Fofana free, with the Frenchman shooting past the hapless goalkeeper.
The visitors waited until the second half for their comeback goal when substitute Gregoire Defrel, in for Ghanaian midfielder Alfred Duncan, got onto the end of Lorenzo Pellegrini’s cross to put the ball in between goalkeeper Orsetis Karnezis’ legs.
It was Defrel once more nine minutes later who scored the winner from 25 yards out with a shot that left Karnezis rooted to his spot.
The victory sent Sassuolo into 12th spot, one point above Udinese who have 29 points.
Agyemang-Badu was replaced by Brazilian Ryder Matos in the 84th minute. He has played 11 games for Udinese this season.
