Ghana’s midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang Badu has said the team will count on their rich experience in previous Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) to overcome Cameroon in the semi- finals of the competition.
Badu who has played in every AFCON since 2010 said at a pre-match conference that most of his colleagues have played in more than three competitions and have gathered enormous experience which will guide them to overcome any competitor.
“I am playing in my fifth AFCON whilst the likes of Gyan, Andre Ayew have had more than five AFCON experience.
“We have learnt very important lessons from our previous participation and I don’t think we shall allow this to pass by us.
“We are going to count on those wonderful lessons and our rich experience to beat the talented Cameroonians” he stated.
According to Badu Cameroon is a very difficult side with a lot of quality players and are capable of causing havoc anytime.
He said they have shown their strength by qualifying from a very difficult group and eliminated favourites Senegal from the competition as well.
“This is to show you that they are not easy to beat but we have the experience to overcome them because we are not in the mood to let go this trophy this time around” Badu indicated.
According to the workaholic midfielder, though Ghana started the competition on a very difficult note they have improved tremendously in each match.
He said their performance in the first match against Ugandan was not impressive but they lifted up their game against Mali and Egypt as well as DR Congo.
Badu added that their performance against DR Congo was an indication that the team was ready to win the competition, adding they will play better in the game against Cameroon.
“The playing body has held series of meetings even without the knowledge of the technical team which shows that we are very serious with the game and not ready to commit mistakes which affected us in previous matches.
“We hope to have a very good pitch at Franceville as well and this will make our game better” he stated. Picture attached
