Ghana and Schalke defender Baba Rahman put up a strong display to help his side win 4-1 in the DFB Cup on Saturday.
Rahman who joined Schalke on loan from Chelsea and was given a start surprisingly as a left winger and not a left back but the Ghanaian seized the opportunity to impress.
The 23-year-old slotted in as a winger and sent in dangerous crosses as Schalke dominated proceedings and scored two first half goals thanks to Dennis Aogo and new signing Breel Embolo.
The Royal Blues were cruising and Rahman’s influence on the game was increasing perhaps looking very comfortable in the Blue of Schalke than the Blue of Chelsea.
The second half followed a similar pattern with two stunning strikes from Johannes Geis and Mr Schalke,Jans Klaas Huntelaar.
Mario Ketterer got a face saving goal for Villingen but the damage had already been done and Schalke was cruising with an impressive 4-1 score-line.
Markus Weinzierl replaced Rahman on the 72 second minute after what was a strong competitive debut for the on-loan Chelsea man.
Schalke will take on Franfurth next in the opening day of the Bundesliga.
