Head coach of AshantiGold Charles Akunnor believes their tactical supremacy aided their 3-1 win against Hearts of Oak in Week 2 of the Ghana Premier League.
James Akaminko put the Miners ahead in the 8th minute after Evans Quao failed to clear a low corner by Amos Addai.
The visitors extended their lead on the 60th minute mark after another poor defending by Evans Quao, which Amos Addai took advantage off and slotted the ball past hapless Sylvanus Gbeti.
The Phobians were given a lifeline with 145 minutes to end the match after striker Joseph Esso superbly outwitted Osei Agymenag before blasting his powerful shot under the bar.
The Miners sealed their deserved victory courtesy top marksman Shafiu Mumuni, who headed home a cross from substitute Prince Owusu in the 89th minute.
Speaking to reporters after the match, AshantiGold coach Charles Akunnor indicated that they did everything better than their counterparts hence deserved their victory.
“Tactically we were better and much disciplined. We knew exactly what we had to do to win this game and i think we did it well, we made them suffer to see the ball,” Akunnor said.
“I told the boys to keep the ball and they heeded to my instruction which made things difficult for Hearts of oak. We fully deserved the three points because we were better on the day.”
