The National Circles Chairman of Asante Kotoko Kwaku Amponsah has implored their supporters not to use their abysmal GHALCA G-8 performance as a yardstick ahead of their CAF Confederations Cup clash against CARA Club of Congo.
The Porcupine Warriors endured an inconsistent pre-season after they were knocked out at the semifinal stage of the GHALCA G-8 competition by sworn adversaries Hearts of Oak before failing to make any impact in the just ended GFA-StarTimes Gala after losing 1-0 to Elmina Sharks in the preliminary round.
But according to Kwaku Amponsah, who is popularly known in the football fraternity as ‘Chairman K5’, the supporters of the club should not use their poor display in the curtain raiser competitions as a measure ahead of their upcoming Africa clash against seven-time Congolese champions CARA Club on Sunday.
“The Opoku Nti’s administration was successful because of they were ready to do anything for the players and that is exactly what Dr Kwame Kyei is doing,” Amponsah stated on Asempa FM.
“The management is doing anything for the players to make sure they win and I am very optimistic that the players will deliver on Sunday.”
“Yes, we didn’t perform in the GHALCA G8 tournament and in the GALA but we shouldn’t use that poor performance to access the team because playing in Africa is different and I know the players will deliver,” he added.
