Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan is expected to seal a return move to Sunderland five years after leaving the Black Cats, according to local media reports.
Footballmadeinghana has reported Gyan will travel to England by the close of the week tie up a deal.
The 30-year-old is set to quit Chinese side Shanghai SIPG with a loan move reported to be on the cards.
Gyan had a successful spell on his debut at the Stadium of Light where he scored 10 in 31 league appearances.
The following season, he played just three matches and the club received a mouth-watering loan fee from Al Ain and decided to loan him out to the United Arab Emirates club.
